Well we're at the end of another week (at least for 4K)! This week was a little rough as I was sick on Monday, had very little voice on Tuesday, and didn't have 4K on Wednesday! Luckily we're good at thinking on our feet here, so VeggieTales came to the rescue! The 4K Extended Day watched one of the classic VeggieTales videos while the After School Care watched the first half of The Pirates That Don't Do Anything. So here are some notes and updates on the week!
4K Extended Day
Our goal this week was to focus on the Creation story from Genesis. We were able to start this on Thursday and will continue it into next week. I have some crafts planned that I think they will enjoy, and then we will be turning our attention to Noah!
Rest time is being strictly enforced as we moved forward. Please make sure to send blankets and other items to encourage rest. If these items are sent home to be cleaned, please try to send them back to us!
We had a lot of fun this week, and I wanted to share some of the fun with you:
After School Care
After School Care has been fun! It's nice to get to know the older students (and a couple younger) too!
Some reminders for parents:
Overall, it's been another great week. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Oh my goodness, the first "week" for K-5 is over! What a fun way to start my experience with St. Edward. I've enjoyed seeing everyone at lunch and recess, and I'm slowly learning names! Make sure to introduce yourself when you see me around so that I can get to know everyone. And now I can't wait to meet my 4K Extended Day class! We're going to have so much fun. Here are a couple updates on the week ahead:
After Care is off to a great start. I'm happy to see that everyone had a snack for snack time! Parents, please remember to send a healthy snack to help your child(ren) find energy for the rest of the day. We'll be crafting the rules for After Care next week as a group, so come with your thinking caps! If you have any fun ideas for what we should do in After Care, I'd like to hear them too, but remember, homework comes first!
4K Extended Day
Our first week is going to be themed "Getting to Know You." I want to spend time getting to know each of you and letting you all get to know me as well. We're going to meet some of my favorite characters: Wemberly, Chester the Raccoon, and maybe even some dinosaurs. As a reminder, please bring a blanket and a couple of items for nap time. Nap time will be approximately 30 minutes and I want everyone to feel comfy on their mats. The mats will also be assigned to make sure everyone has their own spot.
I can't wait to meet everyone else on Tuesday! Enjoy the long weekend!
My name is Katie Mills (but you can call me Miss Katie) and I'm super excited to be the new 4K Extended Day and After School Care teacher. I spent the last year teaching Intro to Communication to college students, so I'm looking forward to returning to an elementary school setting. This year promises to be an adventure for all of us and I can't wait to get started. I thought it would be fun for everyone to know some facts about me before the school year begins. So here we go!
Superheroes are going to play a big role in 4K this year! Do you already have a favorite hero? We're going to spend a lot of time learning about some different heroes that you may or may not have already heard about.
Well, that's all for now! I'm looking forward to meeting you all at Locker Night :)
